BUYING GUIDE
These two lures are alternatives for different water columns, not interchangeable versions of the same bait. The Daiwa Saltiga SK is a center-balanced metal jig intended to drop and flutter below the boat. The 195-millimeter Halco Roosta is a large surface popper made to throw water and create a visible target on top.
Let the fish location make the choice. Marked fish below the boat call for the jig and a retrieve that works through their depth. Surface feeds, birds, or visible bait make the popper the relevant tool. Confirm that the rod, leader, hooks, and drag are appropriate for the lure and target before either one goes overboard.
